It's getting colder by the second here in Victoria. We have a major event coming up in Werribee over the Queens Birthday weekend, Melbourne International Three Day Event. I think for the first time both Em and I don't have a horse running at the event! We both have students attending the event and we feel we are part of it anyway, I think that's why it took us a while to realise we were not competing.
As Melbourne Three Day was growing closer, I decided we could probably do something over this weekend, I don't think we will have this same situation any time soon where we are both not competing. With all of that we decided to get away for a quick break over the time of the event.
We decided to go to Phuket, there were some fantastic last minute deals and we took one. We stayed at a beautiful spot just out of town at the Merlin Beach Resort. The food was great and it was amazing how many riders we came across over there. I had a rule that it was to be a non horsey trip!!! Emily on the other hand managed to get us on a Water Buffalo and Elephants!!!!!!!!!!
We came home from 34 degress to 7, it was the coldest week in Melbourne in 13 years!! We are straight back into it with a midweek competition at Werribee on the 30th and 1st. The weather held out for the two days and the whole comp was finished by about 2:30 on the Thursday, it was the earliest we had ever left a competition. The opportunity for water schooling before every phase as there was water everywhere. We are now remembering what a real Winter is like.
Emily also purchased a new horse with her owner Margaret McCarthy. His name is Lonnie comp name is Bvlgari. He is a 5 year old Irish Sport Horse and with having him about a week and taking him schooling once cross country Em entered him in the Mid week comp. He was great and showing a lot of promise for the future.
See you out there!
Will and Em
