Well winter is certainly here and we have been hit with some seriously changeable weather conditions! We go from having cold frosty mornings with brilliant sunny days to torrential rain and gusty winds and back again in the course of a week! Things have been pretty low key on the horse front due to the weather and my expanding belly!
We have been to a couple of local SJ shows with Leo, Bowie and Duke and they have been acquitting themselves well. It is great to have Bowie and Duke back in work now after having missed practically the entire eventing season! Both have been jumping some lovely rounds and furthering their education. Leo has been jumping some good rounds in the bigger classes and Alex has taken him hunting a few times as well so he is certainly getting a bit of variety at the moment! Jake and Cricket are still enjoying their much deserved winter holiday.
We have just started the annual palaver of lambing....something which never seems to unfold without drama! Already after just a few days we have one very cute orphan living in the house and one dead at birth, with only three born naturally running around the paddock...let’s hope the strike rate picks up a bit soon!!
I have been focussing more on teaching during this quieter time and it is great to see the progress of my students and them reaping the rewards of the work they are putting in. Looking forward to watching them in action when the new season gets underway again in a couple of months!
Well that is about all I have to report this month... Im sure we will all be glued to the TV over the next couple of weeks to see what unfolds at the Olympics! Here’s hoping it is success for all the Kiwi and Aussie riders!
