Name the most influential person in your riding career and why:
Albert Voorn from The Netherlands, He was my coach for four years and I believe he was the man who gave me clarity and understanding with my training.
Describe your riding history:
Paula started riding at 7 years of age, at Parcombe Equestrian Club, enjoyed the jumping part of it and it was a natural progression from there to join EA and pursue a career in showjumping. Olivia started riding at age 3, was competing in shows from around the age of 5 and has been a very passionate competitor ever since. She won her first open class at age 9 in the 1 metre open event at Bega World Cup Show
Special highlight(s) in your riding career:
Paula: First WC win on MR Chuckles in 1994, second WC win at Dapto WC on Opps 1997 and then again on Torchbearer at Adelaide Royal 2001 all three horses were thoroughbreds I had bought and produced off the track. Toowoomba World Cup 2007 I won the World Cup Qualifier on my first warmblood purpose bred showjumper, again purchased as a young three year old. Represented Australia 5 times. Many State teams and State titles. Currently the 2013 Queensland State Title Holder on GH Avion. Previously won also on NV Capone in 2004 and 2008. Oficial Trainer for the first ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 2010. Three Olypic Shadow teams 2000, 2004 and 2008.
Olivia: Winning the state Queensand titles on GH Eternal Flame in 2012 (between us we own four state Queensland Titles), Olivia was Champion Rider at her first Sydney Royal, also winning the Junior Grand Prix on Bucks Bunny 2009 at Sydney Royal, Elysian Fields Junior GP winner 2007 on Torchbearer, winning her first Grand Prix at her first EKKA on Torchbearer on her 12th birthday. Captain of the Queensland Young Rider Team in 2011/12 against New Zealand, represented Australia in Korea in 2008 on the Australian Young Rider Team and was a member of the Australian Young Rider Team in the Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney 2008. Represented Australia in Portugal Australian Riding Team Nations Cup 2013 on GH Eternal Flame. Placed Third, Fourth and Seventh at Mechlan, Belgium. 2012 Runner Up Australian Young Rider Champion.
What are your ambitions?
Olivia: To be a well respected successful rider internationally, and in life to achieve the same level of respect as a person.
Paula: To be the best rider and competitor I can be, to hopefully find a horse I believe is good enough to campaign overseas and possibly ride for Australia in Nations Cup, Weg or Olympic Games. Also to just enjoy what I do.
Have you trained or coached any riders who have had success?
Paula: I have trained many riders with success. Some of those riders are Wendy Shaeffer (SA) Olympian, Lachlan Manuel (QLD) Royal Show Winner, Cassie Honor (QLD) Australian Young Rider Team, Tim Bowman (QLD) dual QLD State Champion, Matthew Kidston (QLD), Kate Majors Eventing (QLD) State Squad (QLD).
Special care and management considerations of your horse(s):
We like to make sure we keep our horses fit and healthy, and consistently manage this process. For young horses, it is not all about winning it is about growing their confidence aqnd jumping ability so that they will become well rounded competitive horses for the future.
Which Pryde's feeds do you use and why do you like them?
We use EasiResponse, this extruded pellet is very palletable, the horses all love it and they seem to hold their weight extremely well on lesser amounts than I have fed with other products in the past. We also use th EasiResult Grain Feed, this is a nice cooler grain feed that gives the horses that little bit extra when they need it without the heating effect that some grains can create.
How will Pryde's Sponsorship make a difference to you?
Pryde's sponsorship makes an enormous difference to our team of showjumpers, we know with Pryde's our horses are fed the best quality horse feed available, as Pryde's are one of the only purpose horse feed companies around, we can rest assured there will never be any contaminants that are unsafe or harmful to our horses. With quite a large team constantly travelling and competing, the cost of staying involved in the sport of showjumping can sometimes be difficult. It is greatly appreciated and we are very honoured to carry the Pryde's name and banner on our team, and acknowledge what a huge support Pryde's EasiFeeds are to our stable here at Glen Haven Park.
