James Harvey
Owner and manager at Patanga Park Performance Horses and Equine Dentistry Australia.
James started riding horses at the age of two. He started Pony Club as soon as he was aloud and by the age of ten it was apparent show jumping was his passion.
James Mum Julie was his early inspiration, carting him all over the country to shows, lessons and anything to do with the horses. Julie encouraged and supported James with all the passion of a proud mother until sadly she passed away in 2006.
Lisa Stevens has also been, and continues to be another huge support and mentor for James. Lisa started coaching James when he was 11 years old and they still speak often.
James also gives his wife Bronwyn much of the credit for his success with the horses. He says she is his greatest support and his best friend.
James has had many highlights in his show jumping career, he lists several of these as:
Competing in the USA under the guidance of world renown rider Margie Engle
High placings in many World Cup classes
Being the first rider in Australia to gain his MER for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
James not only rides, breeds and produces performance horses but he is also a qualified equine dentist. Between horse shows James will treat upwards of 50 horses every week. He travels all over Australia and Tasmania looking after horses dental care, from top athletes to retired old-timers and paddock pets.
James feeds and recommends Prydes, he says he is positive the feed the horses are getting right throughout their life has everything to do with their performance and longevity. He is very proud to be a sponsored rider and to be associated with such a well-known and trusted product. James enjoys the fact; no matter where he travels to compete in Australia the Prydes logo is there, it’s a real family of like-minded horse people.
Bronwyn Harvey
Owner and manager at Australian Equine Reproduction, Yarra Valley Victoria, Australia.
I started vet nursing in 2001 at Montrose Veterinary Clinic, shortly after I began work for Dr Mike Basset and Dr Lindsay Williams at Lilydale Animal Hospital and Yarra Valley Equine Hospital.
This was a very busy equine practise employing 15 to 20 staff at a time.
I quickly worked through my studies and took on managing the equine practise and the ever-growing AI and reproduction side of the business.
Dr Lindsay Williams was one of the first vets in the area to start working with both chilled and frozen semen in horses, his background in research, genetics and general hard working ethic resulted in the clinic having extremely high pregnancy rates.
Lindsay soon became my teacher and mentor in all things AI.
In 2008 James and I bought a farm beside Dr Willams in the Yarra Valley and continued to grow the breeding side of the business.
The business continued to grow and Dr Amber Lavery joined our practice. Dr Lavery brought many excellent skills to the practise, not least managing mares that had been very difficult to get pregnant. At this time we also expanded the business into offering walk on services for Stud Book Thoroughbred mares and foaling down.
Australian Equine Reproduction has grown and adapted throughout the years, as has the industry in general.
All mares both wet and dry are fed on Prides Bio Mare.
We recommend mare owners feed their pregnant mares with Pryde’s Bio Mare throughout pregnancy with the addition of 300 Elite.
Any mares struggling to hold weight, which can occur when lactating, will be fed Pryde’s Rebuild, this has become one of my favourite feed supplements.
The Pryde’s sponsorship program allows us the support to ensure our horses and our clients horses are always getting the best. I often drop the reps a quick message with questions on what a horse should be on, case specific. The answers are always quick and to the point.
We love being associated with an organisation which is recognised Australia wide for providing the best feed horses can get.
