Well since the National Finals at Nebo were held in April and Pete won his 20th ACA Open Rider Title, life has continued on the same hectic way.
We have done all our preg-testing, weaning and flood fencing at home, we have been on the side of the road several times with mechanical problems, a few drafts cancelled, and now we have some horses with the winter blues or flu.......Other than that everything is going along as normal!
So not really a smooth run but still, the Pete Comiskey team seem to continue bringing home the trophies!
We have been to Springsure, Clarke Creek, Middlemount and Bowen River, all being some of the bigger and better drafts in our area with 3 days competition and big nominations. Our horses are all continuing to campaign strongly across all classes. Pete, myself and little Pete, (sometimes Clayton and Justin as well) have 7 Open horses, 3 Novice horses and 4 Maidens on the truck, and all seem to be pulling their weight. Pete has been taking on the judging job a bit lately as well at most events, helping out where he can.
We have run 4 clinics since April with approximately 20 participants each. There have been 3 around Nebo, we travelled to a property north of Clermont and then 4 hours South of Longreach to South Galway for AA co and Georgina Pastoral, running horsemanship and safety clinics for ringers. We have a run lined up in NSW of 4 clinics in August, with SA and WA also booking dates. NT and America are still negotiating possible dates, but it looks like the calendar maybe getting full with competitions on most weekends. We always hand out Prydes feed vouchers at these clinics and discuss feeding options thoroughly throughout as it is such a vital part to any training program.
We are heading to Clermont Gold Cup Campdraft this weekend, so hopefully we will go ok there as well. Thank you for your continued support.
Pete Comiskey.
