The Later part of 2015 consisted of us prepping sale horses for Dalby ASHS Draft. The last competition for the year for us was Dalby Sale Open and Incentive Drafts. Karl won the 5 and Under Incentive Draft with our Acres mare Sweet Dash to Destiny as well as winning the Winners Shoot out winning a Beresford Saddle. We had a great weekend thankyou to the Dalby ASHS Sale Committee and GDL as we also had 100% clearance of our sale horses. Thank you and good luck to the new owners of our Sale horses and we would like to welcome them to Team Burto and the DIAMOND K CLUB.
We went to Armidale Campdraft the weekend before the Landmark Classic Sale in Tamworth where Karl placed 5th on Bob Mckittricks Lectric Kellie as well as winning the Restricted Open Cut out on Oaks Penny. Felicity placed =8th in the Ladies and =5th in the Novice on Elsola Rey.
Once again we had a good clearance rate at the Landmark Sale with some satisfying reports from new owners. Once again, Felicity did well in the Classic Challenge event this year finalling Dan Condon’s colt Travers Mistro and placing 4th on Geoff and Sonya Grants Colt Oaks Stylish Windstorm.
The following weekend we ran a Clinic hosted by New England Girls School in Armidale. It was well attended with 16 riders and a number of fence sitters. It was Challenge and Campdraft based with a strong focus on safety and horsemanship. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as we always do helping passionate riders become stronger competitors and better horseman and women.
We only had a week at home before we packed up the truck again and headed to a fairly local draft for us at Burrandowan. Karl won the three round Open Draft on Oaks Penny as well as placing in the Novice on Dave and Jo Frasers mare Two Bob an Acre and winning the Novice Cut out on Chic.
A couple of weeks at home now to give the ponies a little break and to do some more work at our newly purchased property – ‘Cypress’ at Cooranga North.
Thanks again to our wonderful Sponsors – Pryde's EasiFeed for keeping our horses feeling so well and in such magnificent condition. It gives us the edge!
Next stop Toogoolawah Campdraft in March.
