It has been a rather busy month after returning from Melbourne Three Day event earlier in June.
At the start of July we relocated from our quiet country town in Woodanilling, to be a little closer to Perth – moving to Mundijong. It has been a big move for everyone but the horses have adjusted really well.
I spent the first week of the school holidays at a privately run camp held in Kojonup for up and coming riders starting out in eventing. It was a great few days; lots learnt and ready to tackle their next event.
During the last week of the school holidays we attended the Eastern Zone ODE in Kellerberrin to help the younger kids coming through as well as give our horses a gentle training run around the 105cm. It was a great weekend, and not only did my horses go fantastic, but my pupils were the ones who shone! Everyone made improvements in one field or another, and some coming out on top.
And finally last weekend we attend the Gidgegannup CNC event with one horse in the One Star and One in the Two Star – both pulling of great dressage tests, with Felix doing a 37 penalty test in the One Star to take the lead. After Cross Country both horses came in with a whisker of time, but jumped fantastic, with Felix still holding the lead. A clear showjumping round for him meant that he held onto the lead from start to finish to take out the win! A few showjumping penalties in the Two Star meant slipping to third place, still a pleasing result.
Next it is onto the Wooroloo Three Day Event – very exciting!
